Epic - Revitalizing Weekend!

This weekend was nothing short of incredible.  Although, it was only a 24 hour get away, it filled my mind, body and spirit on so many levels!

Last week I had a really powerful Reiki session.  One thing she shared with me was that I needed to get away on a vacation.  She didn't say where or for how long, but she did say, you are at your most peaceful on a beach - next to the ocean - with the sun shining on her face.  That is definitely a true statement!  She told me I needed to go on a get away now to sort through some personal growth items I'm currently working through.  I left there thinking, "Well yeah it would be great to go on vacation right now but financially, that's just not an option."  I instantly interpreted what she was saying as me needed to go on a big, island get away - because those are my favorite kind :)  I put it out into the universe that a get away would be great and left it at that ....

The next day I spoke with my bestie, Meg, and she also said that she needed a get away and started talking about more of a local get away.  The way things just started falling into place, to pull us exactly where we needed to be was amazing and powerful!  I learned that I can adventure right in my very back yard to get absolutely everything I need and more!

We headed over to Orcas Island which is a short drive and ferry ride away (I love I live somewhere that I can hop on a ferry!)  We stayed in the cutest little cabin right on the ocean and I really wanted to stay longer.  There was a really cool little town with shops, bars and restaurants.  After a great dinner right on the water we hit up a unique bar with tons of character and homemade cocktails.  We topped off the night with a soak in the hot tub under the stars and some quality bonding time.

Day 2 we headed into Moran State Park, which held
some pretty extraordinary beauty including pristine nature, waterfalls and the highest point on the Islands, Mt. Constitution.  Looking over everything you can't help but feel infused with a life and energy that is undeniable.  I went on this trip with an intention of connecting with my higher self and setting my intentions for my life moving forward and that's exactly what I did.  At the top of this mountain I burned a list of my intentions as a symbolic means of moving forward and beginning to manifest my dreams into reality.

I am so excited for the life I have in front of my and the amazing blessings I know are coming my way!!  2015 is going to be a very big year for me, I can see it and feel it!  What a great feeling :)

If you'd like to see all of the great pics from my outing at Orcas Island, feel free to head on over to my Facebook page and take a look Facebook.com/heather.dalton.754

Which is better? Kale vs Spinach

I often get asked by my clients, "Which do you feel is better - spinach or kale?

Both greens are bursting with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants!  Leafy organic greens, are among the most nutrient dense veggies you can go for.  Even though Kale is winning the super food popularity contest right now, spinach is actually a more concentrated source of nutrients, nutritionists say.

Kale contains 10% of your daily needs for 7 different nutrients, whereas spinach packs 10% of your daily requirements for an impressive 18 vitamins and minerals, including energy- boosting iron, bone enriching calcium and folate, a key vitamin for women of child bearing age.  Plus, with 5 grams of protein in spinach versus 2 in kale, so you'll feel fuller longer.
Spinach Recipe
I really like my spinach with an Asian flare!  Here is a simple spinach recipe!

*Bring your water to a soft boil
* Put in spinach and just blanch it (you will see it start to wilt and turn bright green).  This should only take 1-2 mins or so.
* Remove and put in ice bath to stop cooking
* If you have a salad spinner use it and get as much moisture out of the spinach as you can.  If you do not have one, you will need to do this by hand.  You can use paper towel.
* When it's as dry as you can get it, toss it with sesame oil and season with salt and pepper (I also use toasted onion granules and garlic granules)
* Add raw garlic to taste (1-3 cloves)

Looking to CHARGE 2015! What are your plans?

With 2015 rapidly approaching, are you wondering what the new year has in store for you?  Were you disenchanted with what you accomplished in 2014?  Are you wanting to find your purpose?  Do you want to wake up everyday feeling inspired and on top of the world?
Don’t waste another second or before you know it you will be having this same conversation with yourself at the end of 2015.

I left a fast paced, high stress, highly demanding management in pursuit of finding my passion.  What I found what so much more than I bargained for!  When I started my journey I was: At the top of my BMI, exhausted all of the time, a party girl who never passed on a good time, heavy drinker, heavy smoker, developing digestive issues, needing a few scope procedures,  often times sleeping propped up, not exercising, eating horribly and feeling really awful about myself.

Fast forward to today …. I’m in the best health of my life, have transformed mind, body and spirit and have been filled with a passion to help others live the best life they possibly can.  I work for myself, come and go as I please, have freedom to travel, and my reward is helping people change their lives …. nothing better than that!

I’m looking for people to join my team in the new year that are serious about building a full or part time business from home.
Requirements:
  • Have a minimum of 10 hours to commit per week
  • Have a passion for healthy living
  • Love helping others
  • Are teachable and driven
  • Have the ability to dream big!

If this sounds like you please fill out this application and I will then contact you for a time to set up an over the phone interview.

Awesome Healthy Recipe Alert

ATTENTION - Awesome healthy recipe alert!

Ok I now that I have your attention, let's talk about this awesome new healthy recipe I tried last night and it's getting 2 thumbs up.  This Tai inspired dish, was super easy to make and was packed with flavor!

This recipe is gluten-free, vegan, and uses no refined sugar. The peanut sauce makes a great dip as well.
Here is the low down on Easy Thai Peanut Sauce Spaghetti Squash

First off, here's what you'll need

Ingredients:
  • 1 medium spaghetti squash
  • olive oil or coconut oil
  • salt
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley or cilantro (I used chives)
  • 2 tablespoons crushed peanuts

Peanut Sauce:
  • 1 can (14 ounces) coconut milk
  • 2/3 cup natural, unsweetened peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or liquid Braggs Aminos)
  • 2 tablespoons white or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons red curry paste

Directions
Spaghetti Squash:
  1. Here is a little trick to cook your squash in half the time!  Cut some vent slices into it in a few places and microwave for 5 mins at a time (will be 10-15 total depending on the size of the squash and your microwave).  What you are looking for is for it to be soft, but not too soft or mushy.  This will make it much easier to cut in half and you'll only need a few minutes in the oven.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 F. Half the squash and scoop out the seeds.
  3. Drizzle inside with olive oil and seasoning.  I used pink salt, pepper, garlic granules and toasted garlic granules. Place spaghetti squash cut side down on a baking sheet and roast for app 10-15 minutes (if you par-cooked it.  Also will depend on the size of the squash.)

Peanut Sauce:
  1. Place all sauce ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Then turn down to low and simmer for 5 minutes while stirring almost constantly.
  2. Take off heat to cool sauce.
  3. When spaghetti squash is done roasting, take it out from oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Then, using a fork, scrape out the spaghetti squash strands. If your squash is very moist, you might have to place the strands in a colander and pat with paper towel.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic, chopped parsley and 1/4 cup of the peanut sauce pan and combine. Add spaghetti squash and crushed peanuts, stir to combine and cook until heated through (about 2 minutes).
  5. Plate and garnish with a little more crushed peanuts and chopped parsley. Serve right away.

Enjoy!!

Whatever you do ... just never give up!

If you've ever had to struggle to get somewhere, you will relate to this post!  Especially those of you who have ever started your own business.  It's HARD work!!  You have to stay very closely connected to your why because if you don't you'll be chewed up and spit back out.  My why is to live a life of complete freedom.  To come and go as I please, live in a peaceful place, getting to go on adventures and travel the world and to be living a life of complete gratitude.  It's also to continue to expand my growth mind, body and spirit.
You have to be willing to give up everything, invest your heart and soul, take lots of criticism, fail multiple times and keep moving forward.  There are so many days you question your decision, wonder if you're doing the right thing or on the right path.  I find that if you are on the right path, it's at just those moments when something will happen to renew your faith.
I will be going on year three of my business and I've been having some tough months lately that have left me asking myself many of these same questions (that I have asked many times before).
Can I do this?  Am I going to make it?  When will I reach my goals?  When is it going to get easier?

Then I logged onto my email and I had received my email from Team Beachbody that tells me my stats in the company.  Out of around 225,000 coaches I am ranked 1,299.  Now there are two ways to look at this.  I could look at the small picture and say, "Man I've been working this hard and I'm still only 1,299!!??"  Wouldn't that just be a glass is half empty thing to say!  Or instead I could look at the big picture say, "Wow!  Out off all of those people I'm 1,299.  I'm in the top 1% of the company and I'm pretty awesome!"  I choose the latter :)

Because you know what, YOU have to lift yourself up!!  YOU have to stop and congratulate yourself and be proud of yourself.  YOU have to slow down and recognize the signs around you, both good and bad.  This is how you know if you are on the right path.  Make the choice to live a conscious life and so many amazing things will unfold for you.
I was asking questions about my business and asking for a sign ... I received it.  I'll use this to fuel me forward and keep me motivated to build my business with love and passion.
There are SO many people who can use my help!

Get back on track with some interval training

I have had a really hard time getting back on track after my trip home to visit family.  I was off my workout routine, off my typical good nutrition habits, not sleeping well and going through a lot emotionally at the same time.  Not only was I off my routine but I was also going through the extensive testing to determine if I was a liver donor match for my step father.  Let's just say it was a stressful trip all the way around!
When I got back home I felt all over the place!!  I was exhausted, depleted, drained, overwhelmed and had to start processing all of it.  Much of my work over the past three years has been learning how to deal with feelings just like these.  Feelings of anxiety, extreme emotion, uncertainty and navigating through major decisions.
I feel so blessed to have acquired the tools that I have over the past few years.  Tools such as meditation, breath work, connecting with nature, letting out my emotions, talking to others, turning to body work and engaging in activities I know will benefit my mind, body and spirit.  The greatest tool I've learned is just allowing myself to be still.  When something major happens in my life now, instead of feeling anxiety and immediately trying to come up with a solution, I just sit and allow myself to be silent.  I allow myself to be still and quiet with things until I have processed them.  This is usually a time when I will reach into my new tool belt and pull out something to keep me calm instead.
This is what I did when I returned home from my trip.  I got home 8 days ago, and I just feel like I'm starting to balance out again.  I had to let myself go through it, instead of pushing myself through it.  This way feels so much better :)  I had some massive emotional releases and got out a lot of things I had been holding in.  I've been trying to workout and get back on track food and exercise wise, but that has proven to be a challenge.
I haven't felt like cooking and because of my imbalance have been craving comfort foods and sweets.  Instead of beating myself up and just continuing to stress eat, I am being gentle and patient with myself.  When I go easy on myself and handle myself with care, I find it's far better in the long run and I do way less damage.  I always ask myself, "Is this the advice you'd give a  friend you care about?"  My answer to that question used to always be no but now I keep myself in check and I'm a way better friend to myself because of it.

Sticking with the gentle theme, I've been doing a lot of yoga since returning home, which has been awesome.  I knew I needed to force myself to step it up a notch though if I were going to get some of my energy back.  I've been really dragging booty and I needed that endorphin release.  Nothing better to accomplish that then some interval training!
There is nothing like interval training to get your mojo going!!  Here are some great facts about interval training:

1)  It's the most efficient and fastest way to burn the most amount of fat
2)  You will burn for up to 24 hours after a good interval workout
3)  You can get a much better workout from a 15-30 minute interval workout, the you can for 45-60   minutes on a treadmill!
4)  You can continue to build muscle and increase endurance at the same time
5)  Interval training stimulates production of your HGH (human growth hormone) - up to 450% for the 24 hours after your workout!  This not only increases your metabolism but slows down the aging process
6)  You can do it anywhere and you don't need equipment
7) Get in - get out -get on with your day!  We are talking quick workouts here people but be ready to work!  They can be so short because they are intense!
8) They are awesome mood boosters!

Today I went with my favorite interval go to girl - Autumn Calabrese and the 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio.  This workout kicked my butt and it's the best I've felt in days!  More energy, thinking more clearly, on track nutrition wise .... it's exactly what I needed!  In 30 minutes, I got a killer workout and started to feel like me again!

8 Tips to Instantly Boost your Energy!

Here are 8 tips to instantly boost your energy!  If you like these tips and would like access to more, send me a friend request at facebook.com/heather.dalton.754 and I can add you to my free health group!

1.  Yawn - Yawning is your body’s way of cooling down the brain, essentially waking it up.
2. Get moving - By just taking a quick 10 min walk, you can feel revived for up to 2 hours!
3.  Laugh -  A good laugh raises your blood pressure and boosts heart rate, too, which can pump you up when you’re feeling sluggish.
4.  See Red - Seeing the fiery color makes your muscles move faster and work harder, giving you a burst of energy when you need it most.
5.  Eat Chia Seeds - They’re packed with a revitalizing combo of B vitamins, fiber, and protein, so they pick you up without making you jittery.
6.  Stretch - Dragging?  Take a few minutes to stretch!  Stretching reduces pain and stimulates the sympathetic nervous system.
7.  Exercise - Fifty-eight percent of women feel most energized after they've had a workout.
8.  Eat healthy - Studies show omega-3 fatty acids improve mood and brain function, essential for avoiding a midday slump.

Personal Development Utopia

I haven't posted now in a few weeks and it's now something I'm ready to post about.  I have been going through some significant personal issues and the last two weeks have been very humbling and moving ones.  The transition started with much pain but at the same time, still felt different.  Instead of feeling physical pain, stressing myself out, NEEDING answers, trying to figure every little thing out ... and on and on and on.  I did none of that!  Instead I did a lot of meditating, I cried when I needed too (something else I have always struggled with), spent a lot of time in nature, spent a great deal of time quiet and alone with my thoughts and was very gentle with myself.  I realize it was going to take an event this significant to show me how far I've come in my personal development and all I can say is I'm blown away!  I come from a long line of controllers and have spent much of my life trying to control everything and everyone around me.  I finally feel like I'm making progress on releasing this controller and it's the most liberating feeling I've ever had!!  I feel rooted spiritually and I have faith that everything is going to turn out.  I have no doubt that meditation has taken my awareness to a whole new level and has given me an entirely new set of amazing tools to apply in my life.

I feel so blessed to be where I am at in my journey and as I mentioned before, humbled.  I've been working really hard on myself for about 4 years now and it's so humbling to feel a shift of great significance in your world.  That moment where you know your life is going to be different ... better!  Although there is still a small piece of me that's nervous for my future, there is a bigger piece that's really excited!  I know that I am on the right path and amazing blessings will continue to unfold.  I love my life :)

I'm Back

I know it has been a few weeks since I posted to my blog but it's all for good reason!  Team Aloha is growing at such an awesome rate - it's been amazing!  We have been working on a training program for over 1 year now and it's been through many revisions.  We have tried different approaches, changed things we didn't feel were effective, tried other things we thought may be ....
I finally feel like our training system is getting to where it should be, after A LOT of hard work!!  Coming off the cruise, I feel like everything became so clear.  It wasn't one thing that happened. It was a series of ah ha moments that led to the picture becoming so clear and wow what a powerful moment let me just say!

I had to devote my time to making training videos, editing and organizing posts.  I knew that a few weeks of devotion to this project would pay off in the long run.  In the past, I would have tried to cram in everything and I would have really stressed myself out ... but not the new developed me!  I had to take a few things off my plate temporarily, my blog being one of them, until I finished my project.  Although I definitely missed my blog, I was able to allow my creativity and energy to flow through my training and not get stressed out.  I'm learning to be more flexible in life, although it's still not easy for me.  Meditating has helped me in this area greatly.
I feel so blessed to be attracting positive people into my business and I am really excited to see where the rest of this year goes! I am happy to be back and connected to my blog :)

The Power of Meditation

My vertigo has been getting better and better the last 4 days and is finally pretty faint.  I'm still feeling a little imbalanced internally in my brain, my hormone levels and I'm still recovering nutrition wise, from the cruise.  It's amazing how sensitive my body has now become after living in a healthy state most of the time!
Instead of beating myself up, trying to push myself, making it worse, feeling anxiety, etc.  I am applying my personal development and I'm recognizing my body and mind have needed the break, I need to be gentle and patient and I will work through this at the pace that I'm being pulled at.
I planned to try to start working out today but again my mind and body had other plans!  I was feeling negative, irritable, sensitive, and defensive.  Instead of pushing through this with a tough workout, or staying in this space all day, I decided to do a nice long meditation.

The world of meditating is still very new to me and often still very challenging, however, it instantly shifted my energy!  I now feel:  Calm, positive, reflective, happy and productive!
To meditate is to connect with yourself on the deepest level possible.  You realize that you DO have control over all of these things!  Stress, anxiety, fear ... these things don't even really exist.  They are simply conditions we put upon ourselves.

Today we will be at sea all day and have some panel presentations scheduled.  I have a feeling this is when we are going to get the skinny on the new PiYo program coming out.  I can't wait to come home with all the details to share with everyone!  Obviously since I recently became a certified PiYo Strength instructor, I'm super excited about this one!!  Check back in regularly as I will be posting awesome details about this upcoming program.

My business partner and coach, Marissa and I, will be spending a lot of time on this trip talking about the plans we have for Team Aloha this year!  We have worked hard to create a training system and a team that operates as a family, so we can all excel and reach our dreams!  Team Aloha is growing at such an awesome rate and I can't wait to see what this year brings!  I love having a group of people that have my back no matter what and who push me to be the very best that I can be!  I am grateful and blessed for my Team Aloha family and this is just the beginning :)

Waking up in Grand Cayman

Cruise Itinerary

- Today we will be waking up in Grand Cayman.  I haven't been on a cruise, or to the Caribbean Islands in about 15 years or so, but I do remember loving the Cayman Islands.  I remember crystal blue waters and white sandy beaches.  It's also a really cute island with bright colorful architecture and friendly people.  We'll be grabbing a morning workout and then heading out to see what adventuring can be found in the Cayman Islands!

Tonight will be another awesome Beachbody party.  The theme is White Party and will be held poolside.  I've worked for many different companies, in many different capacities and I can honestly say I've never seen a company that is SO awesome to their employees!  Parties, incentives, rewards and amazing opportunity around every corner.  We work hard but play harder :)

All Aboard the SS Beachbdy!

So as many of you know, my all expenses paid cruise to the Caribbean, compliments of Beachbody is in a few short days!!  Beachbody really knows how to take care of their coaches and they throw the best parties ever!!  This year we are taking over an entire Royal Caribbean cruise ship, which promises to be a blast I'm sure.  I earned myself, and my fiancĂ©, a balcony suite and $500 in on board spending cash.  It is an amazing feeling to know that I earned this trip just by keeping myself and others accountable to their health and offering them support on their journey.  The feeling it brings into my life, is reason enough but to earn an awesome trip on top of it, is just surreal to me.  I have always loved to travel and have volunteered helping others my whole life, so this combines the best of both worlds for me.  So all aboard the SS Beachbody is about to set sail!  Although I will be completely unplugging, I will be posting our daily our itinerary so you can follow along with us.
Next years trip is all-inclusive Cancun Mexico .... will you be there?  I know I will be!

Running all kinds of errands these next few days getting ready to leave on Sunday.
